Hi all,

I have an odd problem, I can't get the lan connection to my box to work.

When I connect the ethernet cable to the router the light comes on on the router to show a connection is made, however from the box point of view and the other comps on the network it isn't connected.

I have tried a static IP and DHCP, but it seems that the box isn't getting on to the network - my router (sky) shows any attached devices and the box never shows up. If I give it a static Ip and try to ping it from any of the machines on the network - nowt!

Any ideas how to fix this? if not, is the there a way of getting keys onto the box without being able to ftp?

Help!

TIA

Note: I have tried a reflash and factory reset and still nothing.....

The only way would be to flash a backup image with keys and roms included using dreamup. Do you have another box that you can test the connectivity with?

The network port on your dreambox must be faulty if you cannot ping it.

Hi,

Thanks for the points, tried all of them (apart from the backup image), as a last resort i got out my old router v late last night and..... it worked!

For some bizarre reason my sky router has started out only doing DHCP via wireless and not wired - have absolutely no idea why, as until yesterday (when trying to find out why the dreambox wouldn't connect) I hadn't been into the router for donkeys.

Anyway a factory reset (and a good shoeing) sorted out the sky router.

Now have Dk1.1 loaded and its great (been on an old neutrino image for ages), now to do all the bouquets....

I had a similar problem connecting to my Apple time capsule. I had to use an old router to get it working but now it works with the timecapsule after swapping the ethernet cable for another (I swear they were both straight and not crossover).

Also, if you look in the top of the dreambox you can see that there is an ethernet light for the network port. A good way of seeing if there is a connection in the first place.

Mine goes out every now and then, so I have to reboot the box.
