That's what I mean about not enough information, you didn't mention you replaced the battery.

How did you program the key? How did you manually program the remote?

Do you have access to Peugeot diagnostic machine?

hello

try it

406, Xsara and Xantia Deadlocking (2 button PLIP)

Unlock all doors using a working key.
Depress and hold the large PLIP button for 20 seconds while the LED is flashing.
While still holding down the large PLIP button, press the smaller deadlocking button once. The
LED will stop flashing at this point.
Release, and press the large PLIP button once and the LED will extinguish.
Insert the key in the ignition barrel and switch to the ON position, wait 10 seconds then switch to
OFF

406 and 605 Deadlocking (1 button PLIP)
These vehicles are supplied new with a Primary and a Secondary PLIP. There are labelled inside
PRIM or SEC.
Insert the key in the ignition barrel and switch the ignition to ON
Press the large PLIP button for the Primary PLIP.
Repeat for the Secondary PLIP within 10 seconds.
 Switch the ignition to OFF.

Seems like you've followed the correct procedure - are you sure the remote plip is actually working? Have you examined the circuit board under magnification for broken tracks or connections?

Do you know anyone with Peugeot diagnostic?

I have the diagnostic machine, where are you located? Otherwise...

I am not sure (I have bad recall) but I think in a similar post/problem the advice was to remove key, lock doors manually, disconnect the battery for a short while to reset the ECU, then the programming would work? Worth a try?

Sorry, yes I meant the car battery to (hopefully) reset the relevant ECU to accept programming. It's just a wild guess but I'm at a loss for what to suggest next.

I nearly forgot, you might need to input the radio code after battery disconnection. Hopefully you have the code?

Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for your extremely useful post. I programed a 2 button plip key for a Peugeot 406 today. Unfortunately afterwards, I couldn't get the remote plip to work, despite following the instructions given in the manual for the key programmer (similar to instructions posted earlier in the thread.)

YOUR instructions worked 100% - so if anyone else has the same problem with a 406 year 2000 - we now know the right method - thanks to you.
Cheers.

Hi,

Sorry, But, can you just double check the Battery in your Remote Fob if you have not inserted wrong way.

There for there are NO signal from the remote.

Hope This Helps.

Ash

PS: Bonus2010 Thanks for giving feedback.....................
