The number of BT Vision users doubled in the final three months of last year, the company revealed today.

The company announced results for the quarter ending December 31 showing that its digital terrestrial-IPTV hybrid service reached 150,000 users.

BT said it also continued to lead general UK broadband providers, with 177,000 new users taking it to 4.25m, or 35% of the market. It overtook Virgin Media in May.

Chief executive Ben Verwaayen said: "This has been another solid performance. We remain the UK's number one retail broadband provider and BT Vision customers more than doubled in the quarter."

Financially, the telecoms giant suffered in the quarter with ?76m in restructuring costs reducing its pre-tax profit by 30% to ?447m.

Just a note for anyone new to BTVision boxes. Like me.
They do not work on anything but BT internet. Do not buy a box on EBAY and expect it to work on ant other network or as a stand alone freeview. Even if stated in the sellers advert.
