just put a 250g hdd in my ps3
done it yesterday and wot a nightmare it was ,
the hardest thing was trying to get it to format the whole drive to fat32.
i was following the geezers guide on how to do it , i had to go into cmd etc ,and i still couldnt get it to work , so i pm 'd him and no reply so i started the whole google search off
after about 3hrs i finally found a programme to do it .
takes all of about 5 mins
then just put it in the ps3

now heres my question : how do i back up my old 40g ?
i backed it up on to my newly formatted 250 drive then put it in my ps3 (thinkin ive sorted it all )
but no!
the ps3 wouldnt except it without a reformat
so any ideas how i can do a complete backup?
i aint got a usb stick big enough
the only way i can think of doin it ,is to buy another big drive and use the 3 just to backup and restore ?
help
dazza

anybody needs the programme pm me and ill send it !!

the new 250GB hard drive would have formatted if you put it into the ps3.

Have you got an ipod you can use to backup. When you use the backup feature on the ps3 remember that it compresses the content so 40GB would be 30GB (Maybe)

to back up your old 40gb put it back in the ps3, then get an external hard drive and plug it into the usb port. then click the backup button in the menu. once you have backed it up put the 250gb back in and transfer the everything you need from the external hard drive you are using.
