Plug n play well almost the Starview would suit but the DM800 would be miles ahead on the Sat side.
As it is open source you would have the support of a sizeable community. Take a look around the Sat sections here and across many forums.

Its a nice box but as you are already using a DM I would stick with it. As said with the SV you are reliant upon the manufacturer for patches, firmware, etc.
I have tried both STBs and you will find both will do what you require if it is to watch TV but if you like tinkering then its DM again for me.

sv combo would be good if it had ccam running well, but it does not, but easier to set up motorised dish on. if you can go a bit more, take a look at vu+ duo, people are selling 800hd to buy these, 2 tuners and half the price of 8000hd, will cost around ?380, i will get one, when i get round to ordering one, and flog my gen 800hd.

I think he meant the 800 Mark as opposed to the latest 8000 although I cannot comment on the vu+ duo as I have yet to try it.
Although I see what you said regards people selling their 800's my apologies.

i noticed those spider 9000's soon as you mentioned it .. i take it those aren't opensource. i also noticed a azbox. all these boxes are just making my choice harder haha. i know leaving dreambox is a stepdown but i want a box that does the job and looks nice design wise.. most of the dreambox firmwares i've seen have been filled with team logos all over the damm thing and useless features. all i want is a clean ui and menus not the team logos etc and hideous bootup screens

I agree stick with DM800, Combo has got alot of probs especially glitching probs, unfortuantely its not living up to all the hype and expectation, as for the missing channels a user mentioned above they will appear slowly over time
