Ok think i decided on the vu+ duo box to upgrade my tm9101. But just one question, is the vu+ duo 1080p capable. I know people say it can output 1080p media out put such as playing files. But will it support 1080p sat channels?

I dont want to invest ?400 to buy another box in a year or so for 1080p channels. Can anyone comfirm it will support and display 1080p sat channels.
And as an offside question will any sat boxes support 3D (apart from sly) cheers Jason

Hi,

1080i TV is broadcast but no one is broadcasting 1080p from what i have seen yet i suppose no one knows exactly if their boxes will actually clear 1080p channals when it happens although the box says it can but at present only through games consoles/bluray/files so these sources do clear so it would be likely that it does.

all sat boxes from what i have seen that say HD 1080p will clear 1080i/720i/720p/576i/576p

Things change quickly in the sat world ask around a bit more and wait and see before you part with your spondoolies.

Thanks

No Broadcasters use 1080p to Broadcast (Data Packet currently is to big for present Transponders especially BSkyB on Astra 2 who are squezed for space as it is).

If you Select 1080P on your Receiver for Sky for exaple the Signal will enter the Television but will be Downscaled to 720p or less depending on the Television you are using, This downscaling will effect Television picture quality because of the convertion.

Freesat Use 720p but Sky use 1080i select one of these settings on your receiver and the same for your television for the best picture.

Its only been foolish to use another setting when its not been used in the Broadcast.

if a box can de-interlace the 1080i 50hz signal it can output a 1080p 25hz picture. sky streams are PAFF encoded.

you can do this on a pc with a sky cap.

I have problems playing back mkv's with dream elite image.
