Hi All,

I am a Recent member to DK, looking to get my self a dream box but un-sure which model to go for as I have little experience with both DBOXES and Dream box's, I have a budget of around ?200. I have downloaded a few guides etc for flashing and FTPing this all looks pretty straight forward.

I have a few queries before i purchase though:

1) Where is the best place to buy a dreambox?
2) What models are best supported?
3) I currently have SKY will my dream box work with the SAT dish my SKY works from or do i need to upgrade to a motorized dish?
4) Where can i get new images and keys?
5) If the dream box has a constant internet connection can it update the keys automatically?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi
A Cable box won't work at all connected to a Sat dish, you need a cable connection (Landline fibre optic)

Hi

Thanks for your reply but i am hoping to buy a Dreambox -S (For Sat connections). I have done some reading up else where and looks as though the S models are a bit more tricky to setup and it is better to have a motorised system.

So on that note i think i will go for the cable version, I currently have a TW (Now Virgin) connection in my house but it was not installed by me it was there when i moved in. Will this still be active? How can i test it? I have heard rumours the line can be activated own your own i.e locate the CATV trap door in the street and make the connection for your house number please advise

Can anyone answer the rest of the questions in the inital post?

Thanks

I agree 100% with Ted on that bit.. However you will more than likely find that the cable feed into the house is still live, in my experience they do not go around cutting off the signal at the area box ( a green box somewhere down your street normally) or under a manhole cover type thing as it would involve far to many different guys (i.e. one for each job, not very economical). I have seen them just take the splitter/connector out of the little box on your house/building wall where that cable comes in and cap it off. Reconnecting in that little box with a ?5 splitter from B&Q is no hassle but obviously not legal..
