just ordered one with the Wii clip

I assume its straighforward and also no soldering required

also whats the best DVD - or + media to use

I use DVD-Rs in mine. No soldering was involved with mine as I soft modded it. Don't see the point of buying a chip now. Lots of games are working on the softmod now and it just keeps getting more support.

what soft mod did you use ?

I use Wii loader 0.3. Instead of going into the Disc channel for a backup I use the Backup channel. Most games work and development is still ongoing. All you need is an original copy of legend of zelda twilight princess to install the Homebrew channel.

been running wioth chip for few days no problems, using Kodak DVD-R media burnt at 4x speed and no problems with the DVD

i use ritek G05 8x discs and have not had one bad burn burned at 4X 6X and 8X using pioneer 111d, 112, 112d, 115d burners all seem to work fine not had a problem writing at speeds above 4x

burning software used have been nero 6 and alcohol 120%

Taiyo Yuden DVD-R, burning at 18X on a Plextor writer, no playback issues at all.Using Nero, and IMG Burn.
