Western Digital WD2500BEVT 250GB 2.5" Hard Drive SATAII 5400rpm 8MB Cache - OEM Scorpio Blue - Ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150513)

Buy one of these.

Now get hold of a USB thumbdrive, any size should do theres not going to be anything majorly big going on to it.
You need to make this bootable.

Use the attatched .rar for that.
21675

Just unrar it and run it (you might need administrator priviledges)
When it starts:
Select your USB drive.
Set the file system as FAT.
Tick quick format and Create bootable drive.
Select the box with 3 dots and choose the USB Drive Boot Files\MS-DOS folder as the location.
Hit start and you will have a bootable usb drive within a few seconds.

Now pick which size you want your drive to be 20,60,120 or 250GB (ive included all files incase someone has a suitable drive and wants to replace a drive rather than stump up the extortionate fees MS wants)

And unzip that into your bootable USB drive.
Rename this file to simply HDDSS.BIN instead of its default HDDSS_xxxGB.BIN or it wont work.

You'll then need to get a copy of HDDHackr. (this will be attatched to my next post due to attatchment limits)
Unzip this into your bootable USB drive also.

Then its just a matter of turning off your computer, unplugging all drives (so you dont accidentaly hack the wrong one)
connect the drive you want hacked.
Turn on the machine.
Go into the bios and check that your booting from USB to load up your thumbdrive.
Whilst in the bios make sure that SATA mose is turned to ATA mode and that AHCI is disabled.

Then you should boot up your thummbdrive and see the dos prompt.
Type hddhackr and press enter to continue into the program.

This will display a list of connected drives to choose from, if youve played it safe only one will be connected and make the task a whole lot simpler.
After entering the number you will be asked if you want to dump, flash or restore the firmware, select F to flash.

Type in the name of the security sector you want to flash, this will be HDDSS.BIN

Yo will then get an error message saying that HDDSS.BIN doesnt match the drives firmware and prompt you to continue, press Y.

It will then ask you if you want to create partitions 0/2/3 again select Y.

Let it do its thing and VOILA youve now got a shiny new Xbox compatable Hard Drive.
Its just a matter of dissassembling the enclosure and swapping out the drive already there.

lol nice job mate, 1 tip here - don't create partition, just recover your tag from live then put your saves on after you have recovered your tag.

that's the easy way, hex messed up for me.
