Yeah you couldn't see whether the ref was indicating direct or not...if it wasn't a Direct free kick he probably double touched it flicking it over his head resulting in a free kick to the otherside, if not then fair play great goal

watched again and teh ref is indicating direct :)

dont want to sound a geek but the referee is indicating an indircet free kick by raising his left arm.. also as seen in the footage the initial takers foot does indeed only touch the ball once.. he uses it to lift the ball up over him.. as the ball has travelled at least its own circumference naturally befor player 2 strikes the ball it is a valid free kick and therefore goal.. even if this was a dircet free kick it would still be alowed..

however as a qualified FA Referee i will leave you with one piece of useless trivia..

if a direct free kick is kicked directly into the team?s own goal, a
corner kick is awarded to the opposing team

I stand corrected i think i had had a few sherberts when i posted that, thast why i didnt even notice his arm up when first watching it.....

New about the corner one, played football for many years 2-3 times a week and never seen it happen though..

That goal that DF posted with the flick/volley routine is probably the best set piece goal that I've ever seen.....but I don't think it's the best goal ever scored....strike for strike Rooney's screamer against Newcastle is up there as is Clarence Seedorf's goal from ages ago where he rifles it into the top corner from pretty much inside the D on the half way line....(Seen it on a best goals compilation lol)

i like many great goals including tony yeboah for leeds v wimbledon but once saw a goal by zlatan ibrohimovic in his ajax days where he beats several players (in his own time) then applies an brilliant finish can anyone upload that for me?. but i think 2 of my most favourite bits of play of all time were not goals 1) pele's dummy on the uruguay keeper in the mexico 70 world cup and 2) cantona's kung fu kick on that numpty at palace how many players must have wanted to do that over the years?
