I'm aftraid the only real way would be to hook the drive upto a pc and read it in Jungleflasher.
As they were pre-burnt and came with it could be pre-flashed console. You could try copying a game to the pc, getting some verb double layers and reburning the game. This way you will be able to tell if its a media/laser issue

it sounds like it may of been flashed with old firmware which will not play new wave games without appropriate boot disk.

Just to ask but do the other copied games that come with the xbox work? And do origional games work aswell?

I've also had good luck with Maxstor discs. They're cheaper, but I do have a higher failure rate, so it evens out basically.

Not getting into a media debate here. Lots of media will work, the best are VERB, agreed expensive but the cheaper media will help burn out your laser quicker.
I have had this on liteon drives esp numerous times

I still say the best way to check this is to hook the drive to a pc and see what firmware is on the drive, we can take it from there. If looking for patching games, this will only work on certain firmwares, those that are strict WAVE COMPLIANT will REQUIRE the ACTIVATE disc to boot patched video partitions.

I have my Girlfriends xbox at the momment still with factory settings. Never been online etc.. And no matter what disk you put in it reads as DVD. New drive time :-)

Copy a backup to the PC. Download and run ABGX with these settings

Ok how to configure ABGX.

Open ABGX
Goto options tab. You will want a tick in the following :

Check/Create .dvd file
Check Stealth
Verify if stealth passes
Check/fix video padding
Check for anyDVD corruption
Check For updates
Check game partitions

Now goto auto fix

Choose level 3 and just leave a tick out of adjust ssv1 angle for 359

Goto misc tab

Select console region
On split dvd, choose add if does not exist or is invalid.

Then goto file and save settings. Check the burnt game/.iso and post back what it finds.

Also forgot to mention that wave 3 games + SHOULD be SSv2. You can manually patch your games prior to burning.

Then, compare to 1 your trying to play.

so im copying one of the copied games that works?

alexdc12
21st June, 2010, 12:38 PM
comparing the two the only diff i can see if the game i have that works is 2nd wave and the one im trying to burn(red dead redemption) is 3rd or 4th wave.
on red dead redemption is says stealth is uncertain but at end says all checks passed. on the one that works it says stealth passed.

have you had any successfull burns? or is this the first time you are trying to burn a game?
what program are you using to burn them?
which file are you burning? .iso or .dvd?

you should use imageburn, no need to alter any settings just install it.
then right click on the .dvd file and select burn using imageburn, tell it to write at 2x or 4x whatever the slowest speed the disc will write at, the slowest verbs write at is 4x the right hand window of imageburn will tell you the disc properties and what speeds it can be burned at when you insert the disc.
if it doesnt work then try a different burner but you most likely need a firmware update.

i was using a .iso and imgburn i believe it needs a firmware update

Did you burn the .dvd file ? If theres not a .dvd file with your iso then create one. Simply go to tools. create dvd file.

ezzda1
4th July, 2010, 07:12 PM
maybe not.
the .dvd file tells the burner where to insert the layer break, if you just burn the .iso file it will have the wrong layer break (unless you manualy set it in the burning program's settings) and it will show up in the dash as play dvd.
do what I said in the post above it will then be burnt correctly and if it doesnt work it will need a firmware update.

hmm i do have to .dvd file im sure i selected that cos i read u needed it! im not too sure what i used now! it definately burnt it in layers tho i know that for certain. where do i find the correct layer breaks?

ezzda1
5th July, 2010, 06:55 PM
the info on the layerbreak is in the .dvd file, like i said earlier,
right click the .dvd file and select burn using imageburn, the dvd file tells imageburn what layerbreak to use on whatever iso it is for.
