Installing on your Dreambox

If your image has an Addons menu, copy the .tar.bz file to the /tmp folder on your box and install via the Manual Install option in your Addons menu.

If it doesn't have this function, extract the files to your Desktop using WinRar and copy the files to the proper folder locations using your FTP client.

I am trying to install Tuxbox commander so I can access the password file on my box, does anybody know can I install itfrom a USB memory stick? The blue panel doesn't let me see any plugins btw, despite having definite internet connectivity...

What dreambox do you have?

You can't add files via usb if you don't have tuxbox commander installed.

You need to connect the box to your PC and use an ftp client to transfer files to the box. If you are going to do this, you can check the config file this way instead of using tuxbox commander.

Why not use a normal FTP program. You will need an ftp program to install these plugins anyway so it would be easier.

can someone tell me how to install these.

for internet radio, I added the dreamnetcast.tar.bz2 file in /tmp directory, so I could manually install.

To manually install, I enter BLUE BUTTON, then SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT, then MANUAL INSTALL, however nothing appears?

Is this the correct file or am I doing something wrong?

I intalled the Total Football plugin without any problem.

But on selecting any of the options i.e Tables, Scores, Matches etc, it's dispaying header without detail results.

Anybody experiencing this problem or what I'm I doing wrong.

Help will be appreciated.

I'm strugglin to reset the password on my dbox, the guy who sold it to me locked it and wants a stash to help. Blue button lists an 404 not found error when trying to look up plugins although I know it has access. tried looking the actual page and its blank so hoping i can get tuxbox running

I got the same problem. The person who sold me the machine doesnt want to give me the root password. So I installed an NFS server and I can now reach it from my dreambox clone. However, how can I install TuxBox commander from an NFS share? When I go to manual install plugin, I can browse to the directory containing the downloaded zipfile. However, I don't see the files, only the directories. And I cannot start the installation.

I already tried unzipping the zip file. Doesnt help.

Now I can see the file...

But when I say install now... it says Installation failed.
I tried creating a tar.gz with the .cfg and .so files in /var/tuxbox/plugins/ of the tar.gz

Fixed!

My last problem was that the machine was set to Dutch Mode... And the plugin was English. Failing the installation.

Once I set the machine to English (and rebooted the machine, for the change to take effect), the installation was succesfull.

Now I was able to edit and clear the root password in the passwd file.

Hello thank you very much dear Up-loader !

For all newbies quick guide how it works NOW May 2010 !

Known process:

1) download to known PC folder
2) open via FTP /tmp folder on your TuxBox
3) copy there dreamnetcast.tar
4) close connection, leave PC, use remote control for manual instalation on OSD
5) before first try you need to upgrade old links in stations.xms
6) start DNC plug-in ...enjoy listening!

How to rewrite old links by editing stations.xml:

1) edit stations.xml in PSpad ...this way:

change old link for example radio 977 excerpt should look like presently: ........http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=6956......

for information about the line use directly your browser, enter #shoutcast.com# take some radio end click right mouse on yellow button TUNE IN!, copy link address. This should be input for the new line.

But if you want to use more radios try to Google DNChelper. It is pretty nice utility for PC with net framework to order and sort your radios from shout-cast. After sorting job is finished this utility enables you to upload stations.xml directly to your box ... perfect solution !

It is quite easy ..... Like Henry?s gun. You load it whole weekend, but then shoot whole week !!

The BUG is, than if you will press YELLOW button ( settings ) on the remote, STB freeze. CCcam will restart, I do not know how to solve.

I need help on Dreambox Editor plug-in (sometimes also known as Dreambox Key Generator).

Does this v1.1 plug-in recognise the type of softcam the user using and update the correct cam files (either softcam.key or keylist.txt)??
Or it is only suitable for evocam files?

I don't know the root password for my dreambox so i've managed to use tuxbox commander. I've successfully installed It and I'm able to use It. But I can't edit the file passwd under /var/etc/ since It seems I don't have the right (when the cursor is on the file passwd, I have only "1 : right" and "3 : view(or read)" but no "4 : Edit"). Can I modify the rights for this file ? Help Please...

There are some DM800 image files which are built without the essential option : /Press blue button/newnigama2 services/EMU Menu/Add-remove camds included. There isn't and Addon menu too. I wanted to install mgcamd and run 1.31 or 1.35a. Is there any plugin which can help to solve this problem?

The default password is "dreambox" (without the quotes). Try it. If it's changed, reset to factory defaults.

Hi, I'm having similar probs , I've flashed my box but can't use DCC or DB edit as it says the default passwords are incorrect or "Send socket is not connected", even tho the box reacts with a ping test with DreamUp.
How do I put Tuxbox on the DB500s if I can't use DCC or Edit?

Yes, I did my network test. Before access the plugin. But when I load it, nothing come out. Just a black screen. I waited for 10 min. Also the same.
