Nintendo has released a new firmware update for Wii that brings the system menu to 4.3U. As of now, the only thing known that it does is remove the Homebrew Channel. No idea on if any features were added or not, but I?ll keep you posted. Just do NOT update if you have the Homebrew Channel cause it will be removed.

CONFIRMED: Nintendo website confirms the new update is to remove piracy. Here?s what their website says?

Most Recent Update:
June 21, 2010

Wii Menu 4.3
Unauthorized Modifications
Because unauthorized channels or firmware may impair game play or the Wii console, updating to Wii Menu version 4.3 will check for and automatically remove such unauthorized files. In addition, there are some behind the scenes enhancements that do not affect any prominently-used features or menus but will improve system performance.

Just to add to the above post.....modded a wii today and updated it to 4.2E using the safemod update from here (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/v4-2-safe-firmware-updater-1037/)
Then used the older version of the Wii 4.2E softmod sticky (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/wii-4-2e-softmod-tutorial-easy-follow-guide-67927/).
Everything went fine but youll find that youll only have to delete IOS 250 after the mod....222,223 and 249 wernt included after the safemod method.
Also might be an idea to use the parental controls to lock updates and internet connectivity.

You can't beat Bootmii as Boot2 and a Nand Backup and if you can't do that,
Make sure you Install Priiloader and Block Disc & Online Updates.

Like you say they will eventually release another BannerBomb & Hackmii, but when eh - It would be a Shame to update and not to be able to use that HDD full of games eh?

Why did you not have Priiloader Installed? or BootMii as Boot2?
For now this is as good as it gets :- 4.3 Wii Latest Info (http://www.wiihacks.com/wiihacks-newbie-discussions-forum/61538-4-3-out-discussion-wii-firmware.html)

I have read this thread and many others and am still confused. Here is the background -

Had wii modded (don't know if soft mod or hard mod - paid someone $60 to do this) 1 year ago. Able to play downloaded games in wii with no problems (burn to DVD). Don't even have to use homebrew channel, game shows up to load in first window to show CD is loaded.

Yesterday went to put in Kirby's Epic Yarn for the 1st time. Kids saw Wii update and updated system. I caught it about 1/3 way thru & stopped it. When rebooted, now have 4.3u. Homebrew channel gone. (not that I really used it, but still...) Other d/l games still work, along with purchased games. of corse Kirby doesn't work.

About to try directions from thread in this forum ( http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/4-3-mod-157379/ )

Am I on the right track? Not up for bricking my wii not spending another $200 to buy a new system.) Any help would be greatly appreciated!

how are you gonna use the 4.2 safe updater if your homebrew channel dont work?
the only way to get going again is to remod it but your going to need a game exploit read here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/4-3-mod-157379/
