Hi folks, needing a little with these xbox's, used to flash these a while ago using probe etc, but i have a lite-on v83850c which is showing in JF, but at the bottom of drive properties its saying "DVD key not found" im a little worried about going any further until i know whats happening, got this of a guy, as well as the hitachi's, but to stick to the lite-on, should i go to the next stage in JF or if it's saying key not found is it a different matter for flashing, any help much appreciated, cheers

Follow the rules in JF when doing then drive if it says no DVD key then its not picking it up.
83850c series some can be done some cant especially the later model of 8 series.
Do not proceed untill you definately manage to extract a key.
Also make sure you use the latest version of JF. This is very good for the 8 series drives as a lot of bugs were fixed.

its recognising all the drive properties but JF is still saying DVD key "not found", using DVD32 tab on the latest JF, so should i leave well alone?

Probably a 83850C v2 which would mean it is non hackable unless you start cutting traces etc.
What JF are you using? Tell me the method you are using to extract the key. the process etc?

ok thanks for sticking by , all iv'e done is hook the xbox to pc using sata, hit DVDKey32 and have always had the xbox recognisable, although i do have the xbox showing in the drive properties in JF(vendor;name; fw rev etc) it still says DVD Key... Not Found, so im taking i cant go ahead untill key is found or as u say it could be V2?

If the MF date is that late and you can't extract the key using JF then its a v2, which means you will need to open it up, cut traces, attach an LT switch, probev2 or similar to get the key and repair the traces after.

I can certainly provide this service. Pm me further details and i will do it no problem. Although i think cunny may be closer to you? Im sure he has learned how to do the 8/9 series drives by now as he has been on here for so long.

I can also do this for you, I have done about 20-30 of the new Lite-Ons in my area. Additionally I can have it done the same day and sent back (Depending what time it arrives as sometimes RM deliver quite late here) if you needed it done quickly as the post office is only 2 minutes walk from here.
