hardware upgrade

Hi I have an old 1st generation starview and have been considering an upgrade to the latest pvr model aprt from the pvr part (i allready have a harddrive recorder but my partner gets confused trying to set different machines to record her programmes ) Are the advances in the newer models worth paying out for and how simple is it to use the pvr
