View Full Version : How to disable EGR for 147 1.9 JTD 8v?

I blocked (by thin plate) EGR in my Alfa 147 1.9 JTD 8v engine. But I have error about EGR function, occasionally. Error appears only in diagnostic procedure (by FiatECUScan) but doesn't in boardcomputer screen...
What is the proper way to "disconnect" EGR by software i.e. in map?

Here you have both maps, adress for ecm is in under side from page.

Go to 'phase of injection' and set all values to 183 to disable EGR

Good luck.

If any question,just ask.

Thank you rsibiza - could you tell me what software you use for this: ECM?

Yes, it's ECM2001. You can find it here: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f141/automotive-software-collection-65195/

I looked some maps and saw value of 183 (in high power and high RPM area) and 194 (for lower power and RPM). What is the reason?

Man, those are just "Mass of Air" expected values.
Keep them high to avoid "Out of specification" dtcs.
And no, its not a 100% removal of the EGR in software.
Just an easy way to do it.
In Fiat edc15c's you will always have the DTC "EGR error" as far as i know.

Hi to all.I set all values to 183, but now when i drive around 30km in all range of rpm,ecu write P0404 error.

Some proposals what to change in ecu, to stop this error.

Yes,some Fiat edc15 have this problem, but not all,and get EGR error.

VAG doesnt gat any error after closing, its no real EGR Remove, but closing the valve simply.

Try closing EGR only after 50% of accelerator,so while you drive normally egr can work normally and if you need power and have lot of turbo boost EGR still closed.

If error persists, try more high accelerator value(LOAD)

Thanks rsibiza, i will change by this way and will test these days.

Thanks again, but why originally, this map have high value (194) in high load and low RPM?

Is this EGR error with some serious consequences or this is only "aesthetic" issue?

I have large values in EGR map, but P0404 appears again...
What is the way for complete software removal of EGR from ECU in case of Alfa EDC15C7?

Were you able to remove it? Yes - tuning professionals told that is possible...

Yes, is possible without problems. EGR can do remove by software. Full closing without fault codes :)

You managed to get the DTC removed, for P0404 also?

It doesn't really makes any difference as the DTC won't trigger a MIL, but would make a beautiful job :)

I managed to make EGR off with 0% at idle, doing some extra programming tweaks, but didn't found a way to get DTC away from diagnostic
