Hi folks.

This is my 1st post so please be gentle.
Ive got a fuji siemens desktop computer and recently the motherboard died.

Had it repaired (they reflowed it?) but now my dvd drive doesnt always close.

For example if i put a disc in and press the close button 5 seconds later it opens up again. I have to push it in by the tray for it to stay in and read the disc.

Is there something i should be looking for or is it just the sensor on the drive is kaput and i need to replace it?

The computer is about 3years old.

Many thanks for your advice in advance.

Stu

the price of dvd rewriters 10-20 pounds it would be worthwhile replacing your existing drive for a new one as they easy to fit.

First thing i do when things go wrong is to uninstall them then reinstall them ...

So in your case turn of your pc ... pull the side off and disconnect the power and data cables from the drive ... restart your pc ... wait a few minutes and turn it off again.

Reconnect your cables to the drive, make sure they are firmly in and restart your pc.

Not a guaranteed fix ... but i recall it working for me with a
Pioneer DVR 105 (seems like a life time ago lol)

@manx

Ps ... the age of things these days imho have no bearing on things ... every thing is mass produced so its hit and miss if they work or not.

reflowing PC motherboards? i thought it would have more easily repaired putting a new one in.
