Same thing happened to me and it was the ir led (there seems to be an issue with them especially if remote is dropped).Check to see if its flashing using a camera phone and if not it theres a good chance it probably is the led.I got an old remote with an led the same size desoldered it and resoldered it in the itgate remote (needed a solder sucker for this),checked to see if it was flashing which it was, and it's been working as good as new ever since.

You don't need to replace the IR Led. Just reseat it on the board.

Mine did the same after it was dropped one to many times. 5 minutes with a soldering iron & it will be as good as new. You should also do the same with the blue capacitor that's next to the Led.

I tried both, resoldered the led and cap but still nothing, totally dead then replaced the led and it's worked fine since. Can only go on what happened to mine as a guide.

I threw mine against the wall after a row with the missus, her losing her ma, our house sale falling thru and no fags for 3 months!
It was completely broken, all the pieces inside rattling around, not so lucky.

But i contacted Jono and had to wait a couple of weeks, as they had to come in from korea and fairplay to him, he was as his word and sorted me a new one.
Which i might add was only 3 months ago, so i have to count myself as quite lucky to get it when i did.
Now we've just got the keys, today, on our new purchase, no arguments, so far! Still of the fags and feel great for it. :hello:

Ok. Thank you all for your help. I did read your comments yesterday, However for some reason, my mobile phone would let me read the posts but not let me log in to reply. So here goes.

mept1 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/../members/2132-mept1/) The first of your links brings up DBROS. This website is linked to satkings. I have emailed the people behind dbros and there is no reply.

the second of your links brings up an itgate satelite tuner. This how ever is not what I am needing at this time. But thank you any way. shamusbhoy & (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/../members/2132-mept1/)Canker_Canison (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/../members/160459-canker_canison/) I believe my problem is the blue transistor at the bottom of the remote board. The reason I believe this is because having examined it, one of the 3 pins was not connected to the board. a little bit has snapped off one of the pins. I pushed it down slightly to push the 2 pins together and it worked for a split second. I believe that this is the way to fix the remote but were can i get another 3.64mg transistor? All I can find are transistors with other numbers. Will these work?

Another problem of mine is the case. Its like well shattered and will not stay together. Ideally I really really need a new remote to be quite honest. Thats were ajd7 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/../members/112355-ajd7/) comes on. Who is jono? How can I contact him? I am willing to try and repair the remote as a temp basis. But I would like another remote.

Thank you all again for helping and please advise me one more.

thank you,

Kev

Jono is the main man at Dbros. We're not sure what's happening with the site. There were e-mail problems about a month or so before Satkings went down. Give it a few days.

If you can fix the buggered componant I'm sure you'll be able to find a cheap remote with an identical case to the ITgate. I've seen them around, just can't remember where.

Have a look at Maplin Electronics for a replacement componant.

hello people. I have been looking around for this blue part in the remote. Took it into maplin, they do not have it. Took it into CPC. that also do not have it. Does no one know of were to get the 3.64MG Blue Crystal from the internet?

thank you.

By the way Stan654, Mept1 Has already suggested that and as I have pointed out. They do not have it. thank you anyway. :(

Have a look on ebay for a ceramic resonator, had a quick look and that seems to be the part. It's the 3 legged one ZTTseries.

I don't know if it's any use but, from past experience, it's often the case that remote controls aren't too fussed about exact frequencies. If you can't find a 3.64MHz resonator, it might be worth trying one at 3.58MHz instead. That's only about 2% different (assuming my maths is right).

Farnell have one with part number 1448124 for 28p AEL CRYSTALS|C3M580000L002|RESONATOR, ZTT, 3.58MHZ | Farnell United Kingdom (http://uk.farnell.com/ael-crystals/c3m580000l002/resonator-ztt-3-58mhz/dp/1448124)

whilst RS have part number 526-6069 at ?2.20 for a pack of 10 :

Murata | Semiconductors | Frequency Control | Resonator | Resonators |CSTLS3M58G53 (http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=5266069)

If you are fixed on a 3.64MHz part, Farnell do a surface mount version - part number 1170425, cost 27p but you have to buy 5 :

MURATA|CSTCC3M64G53-R0|RESONATOR, SMD, 3.64MHZ | Farnell United Kingdom (http://uk.farnell.com/murata/cstcc3m64g53-r0/resonator-smd-3-64mhz/dp/1170425)

I remeber this site (http://uk.rs-online.com/web/?cm_mmc=UK-PPC-_-google-_-0_RS%20Brand-_-rs%20catalogue_Phrase&gclid=CPbclrOc7qICFSSElAodnCwacQ) being posted on satkings for electronic parts/components but cannot recall the reason ... worth a look I reckon.

Luse posted it for me to look at. If I remember correctly I was looking for the R1 & R2 resistors to fix the DS lite.
