Hi
Can someone please explain or do a step by step for flashing a samsung MS28 drive that's already been spoofed as a Hitachi GDR-3120L (55DJ firmware) using Iextreme 1.51.
I'm wanting to go up to 1.61 but jungleflasher doesn't seem to work and hours of searching google turns up nothing at all.
What softwares needed? (dos based or windows) and where do I get the firmware from (Samsung one)?
I have my original key saved in a text file but don't have the firmware file of the original (Hitachi) drive or Samsung drive. Will this effect me updating the software in any way?
If anyone can help I'd appreciate it to save what's left of my hair :)
Thanks.
Baz.

Compatable chipset. Like a via 6421 card.
Jungleflasher.
Read the jungleflasher guide for samsung drives. Read the firmware, spoof to target (ixLT is out) write the new firmware.
Make sure you save the original firmware
You will need to eject the tray half way, can be a little tricky when not using a CK kit but doable.
When that is done, under the MTK tab, on correct port, do a device intro, power cycle the drive, read the firmware off the drive. Load IXLT for samsung drives into target, spoof it over, should show that its spoofed as an hitachi, proceed to write the firmware once your happy with the key ect

You'll find that no matter of the version of Jungleflasher, if the pc has not got a compatable chipset with the drive thats connected then it wont be able to see the drive.

Tried Jungleflasher (latest version) on an Nforce 4 sata chipset and a Pro Ali sata chipset and neither worked. Managed to get Jungle flasher to detect the drive on the ALI chipset but wouldn't do anything with it afterwards and kept freezing the PC up after a while. Gave up on it in the end. The Nforce wouldn't even recognize the drive which is odd because it's what I used to flash the 1.51 Iextreme on it originally through a dos based USB dongle. Jungle flasher just doesn't seem to like the chipsets or allow me to do anything with them. Main errors I got were 0x50 or 0x51 errors when trying the write to the drive (with the tray half open etc). Must be a simpler way to update the firmware on the drive.

You dont need the tray half open on samsung drives.
That is for liteon 7's only.
Just flash it via dos make the SamCFW.bin through JF spoofing the key etc then flash it. Simples.

Tried that as well and no go, used Iprep to make the usb pen bootable and used the 1.61 firmware with my key in it (spoofed as well). Got into dos and typed the command it said to put in (think it was fsam serial number) and just got errors saying it couldn't find the flash file. So copied it to every folder on the pen and no go finding it. Iprep did throw me an error on the flash file saying it wasn't recognised as a proper flash file.
Do you by chance have any links to the ms28 flash file (1.61) and the dos programs that'll work please? :)

Try dosflash, links are in here, if that dont work, i would be serious about getting a via 6421 card. That will work in windows and dos

Thanks for the information everyone :) Which is the best firmware to have on the MS28? 1.5 or 1.6 or 1.61? Also what's better Xtreme or Ixtreme firmwares? Also what's the LT touch version mentioned earlier in this thread and is it available for the ms28 or just the Liteon drives? :)

LT is the lasterst frimware for the samsung. Use that if you plan on playin online. Your usb dongle you use for iprep just delete all the files on it. Stick DOSFLASH 1.8 on it. DosFlash V 1.8 : iXtreme Firmware Download (http://www.ixtreme.net/downloads/dosflash-t15.html)
Stick the Firmware you spoof in JF on it. Not in a folder just the file itself. Make a note of it.
Go into dos and Flash it through your SATA port.

Thanks a lot especially for the links :) I know I'm a pain but one more question. Does the LT touch samsung software need a boot disk for wave 4 games (if so where do I get one from)? :)
Thanks everyone for your help, will be trying it out tomorrow and will report back :)

I flashed 6 samsung drives today, one of the drives had this same problem.
I kept power cycling the drive and hitting intro / refreshing ports for a while and it eventually just decided to work. This is the same method ive used on various stubborn Hitachi drives.
If this doesnt work, then its your chipset playing up or something.
Edit: LT can boot all wave games. You don't need a boot disc :)

Managed to do the xbox with Ixtreme 1.61 in the end using the dosflash method (thanks), had to have the machine turned on, boot into dos, run dosflash, it found the drive but gave an error, all I did was press y and enter and turned off the xbox, turned it back on and it fully detected the drive and allowed me to write the flash file to it. Afterwards powered off and tested and it was fine.
For some reason the samsung LT software though wouldn't even read a disk I put into the machine, only gave me the option to play the disk and brought up a play menu, no game menu or anything at all. Strange, but it's working with Ixtreme again :)
Thanks everyone for all their help/suggestions, I really appreciate it :)
Baz.
Off to play Mass effect 2 some more :)
