Hello

Protek 9600 owner giving very serious thought of purchasing a dreambox 800.

Have been searching the net, and indeed Google being my friend, I didn't want to start another thread with same old questions.

But if anyone could help with a few questions.

Do you recommend some kind of cooling system for this box i.e. laptop cooler or fans?

I seem to have some idea I read it needs extra power input when viewing HD. Have read so many threads I don't know if I imagined that one. Is the power supply it comes with sufficient?

Last one, and please PM. Looking to pay a sub. Any recommendations? Please don't reply in post. Admin/mods, sorry if that's out of line question, please delete if you think necessary.

The clone dreamboxes come with built in fans now, no extra power is needed for hd. Just an inline amp. Are you looking to buy from uk or china? It is possible to obtain the inline amp for free from a uk retailer

Thanks Jackpot.

Think I will buy from uk, not wanting a clone.

What is the inline amp??

It goes between the sat cable and stb. It improves the hd signal for the clone tuners.
They are less than a fiver to buy.http://www.falconsat.co.uk/product_images/c/114/20db_in-line_amplifier-siri__31945_std.jpg

Thanks manic01. I knew I had seen something about extra power for something.

So it is not needed for proper or original dreambox? or would you recomend anyway?

Clones are thought to be better than originals.. Many people who own both stick with the clone. Clones can be obtained from uk retailers.

Sigh, as ever with this sat hobby, nothing ever as easy as you would first think.

Clone better than the real thing!!

and recomendations for where to buy?

DVBmonkey seems reasonable.

Thanks guys for the good advice. Gonna mull it over the weekend, not discuss with the Mrs and do it next week!!!!

This will be my fourth box, and still get giddy at the thought of a new one.
