I have a sat card for my HTPC which runs nice and silently in my livingroom. Its quite nice, and runs really well.
I use W7 media centre, and the wife appears to get on with the menu.
The only issue that I have is that with my tv card (haupage hvr3000) you can only pick up the FTA channels, and channels which are FTV need a viewing card, even though they are free. This means I can get channels 1 - 5, BBCHD, ITV-HD, dave etc, but i cant get chan4HD or film4 which is a pain.

The media centre software has built in record function's, and will control multiple tuners.

I think certain cards do infact have a port to allow for a sky card, with a a CAM, although im not sure which are compatible, especially since sky changed to the newer white cards not long ago, i think that ruined alot of setups.
