yes you can do all game updates, it's the full dashboard updates that seem to get you banned, and theres one due in november.

Game updates are fine yes. But if you play a copy in your drive, and its detected, soon as you connect to live it will update to MS telling them this info, so you run the risk of getting banned anyway.

You have to connect to live to get the update, so surely using a copied disc to get the update is just as detectable as playing online when it comes to checking server records?

Console updates should be done with the stock firmware on the drive (so team jungle and C4e recomends) Would this point towards a checksum done on drive firmware during the update process, stored on the nand then sent to ms? Or how they detected ix1.6 in the last ban wave? I think it is very likely.
But again just speculation, there is a new update on the way, so i think that will be LT's 1st real test.

If you have had anything but LT on the drive, return to stock and update, then your still taking a risk. The NAND on the 360 stores all info of the drive activity. So really it dont matter if you return to stock or not.
You run the risk whatever happens. We wont know about LT until september, but even if people get banned, they will still blame LT, as they have upgraded from an earlier version ox IX and could of been flagged already.

I personally believe that they stated to return the drive back to stock to aviod firmware being banned and more to bad rips causing the issue. Yeah the nand will store information of the drive, what i was getting at was during the update process, i think that is when the drive is mainly quizzed for responce. The stock firmware would respond in a certain way, and ix would another.
I think we should wait and see what happens with the new dash on the way, who knows another ban wave, i dont think it will be be as big as the last 1 if there is.

I'd put my house on another ban wave. Probably earlier than last years. Bundle kits of new xbox and kenict going out on sale for christmas. Just as large as the last ban.
As alunfunell mentioned MS use the hacking scene as a bravado for sales etc. Hence the reason that some games now require you to buy to go live on some game. Wont be long until we see this roll out on every game that is worth playin online.
Quicker the new Liteon is hacked the better but i can see it being september time. Look back on the years and see how drives have changed in the 360 and when bans occured. Theres a nice little pattern to it.

Cunny if its been flashed your taking a risk, its that simple really. Returning to stock aint going to save you.

I do agree with the bans, i am just wondering if, that, ms have learnt the lesson on drive firmware and come up with more security, so, if thats the case i wont be suprised if its a little longer.
Its been common knowledge that they ban to help try boost sales up. Just wonder if the ban happens my little old benq system will survive as its survived a while now lol

I know its not, this drive been flashed with quite a few firmwares, i am just leaving it open for discussion for those who aint to sure, you take any flashed box onto live and you should be expected to be banned
