hi guys i have cdr500 radio and lost code i have read that you cant get the code from the GM serial number, i think, but wondered how some companys say they can? thanks in advance

Hi Deffcon, yes its a vdo i think, cdr500 serial no. GM050042376655 took off batt to weld then oops

Hi, you need to read eeprom 24C16 SMD and post the dump here, then you'll get your code

so the chip is unplugged from the radio, read, and plugged back in? or does it need de-soldering? cheers

Better work out the chip.

But you can try to read in the board (read several times and compare)
If reading is always the same OK, post dump !

can i use the elvis programmer to read this chip? i`m sure i have one somewhere and it had an ic socket on it that i could make a clip to attach to the chip on the radio... yes?
