Usualy laptops have built in wifi. if it's an old laptopthat doesn't then you can buy a pcmcia wifi card for about ?20

Wifi will only let you get on the internet if you're near an access point... Where you going on holiday ?

Possibly look at mobile internet from one of the mobile-network operators where you can get internet anywhere where you'd get a cell-phone signal, can be slower but usually ok for surfing the web, and pretty cheap nowadays.

you WILL be charged a fortune if u have 1 of those internet dongles. Just make sure you have wireless (most laptops do these days) then use the nearest internet cafe or place with a wifi hotspot.
