Hello Guys and Girls.

I have just purchased myself a rather cheap Rover 75 2.5 v6 on a W plate. One thing ive noticed which ive not felt on other cars is that when the handbrake is applied the car will "roll" about 1-2 cm before locking on an incline after removing my foot from the brake pedal. Is this correct? The handbrake is fully operational and does hold the car on about 5-6 clicks, its just the slight movement i am wondering about.

Thanks in advance :)

Not got a system on the rears like the BMs, Merc and some Vauxhalls has it where its got a top hat rear disc with the hand brake shoes inside, thay used to move back and forward a bit

Thanks for your replies both. As I understand it, the 75 has a BMW braking system. It does indeed use a "top hat" disc and the shoes are inside, so maybe this is normal.

Can any BM or 75 drivers confirm?

Cars that have handbrake shoes inside the rear disc's do move a little when the handbarke is on, if its parked on a flat you can move the car back and 4th a inch or so
