After a reliable soic8 eprom adapter to use with x-prog M or UPA.

I have find this: SOIC 8 / SOP 8 WAY TO DIL ADAPTER 200mil -209mil ((UK)) on eBay (end time 02-Aug-10 12:17:13 BST) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120591506831&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en)

Or would be this a better option?? LEWMAX PROGRAMMING|LEW08|SOCKET MODULE, SOIC/DIL, 8WAY | Farnell United Kingdom (http://uk.farnell.com/lewmax-programming/lew08/socket-module-soic-dil-8way/dp/698180?Ntt=698-180)

Is that on X-prog?

nope sory
its on a zif type programer
but you can wire direct to the headers on these adapters ?
using jumpers to the headers from the xprog or upa
and it should still read ok
worth a go save spending the cash for yet another adaptor
i might try it to confirm

Yeah, I know what you on about, but a bit tired of not proper connections and prety close to spend 60-70 quid on a good adapter..Silly I know..:coffin:

I've bought a few things off these guys and there really good.
They make custom adaptors and cables for different programmers. You won't have to explain to them what an Xprog or a UPA is, there on the ball.

Last night seemed reasonable to pay 70 odd quid for a soic8 to dil8 adapter. just woke up now and looks madness. Probably the 3M soic8 grabber at "only" 14 quid look more like it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110555812620&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

For some reason my previous message got booted - I'll try again seeing as I don't believe I'm doing anything that others aren't by giving links to things:

There are two products which might help and you can find them both here:

WTS - Products (http://www.warwickts.com/category_adaptors.html)

You can get the grabbers and ribbon cables and test clips from us too. Plus if there's something you want that we don't do we can work on it for you....

Just goes to show, you never know who is watching! Lucky I didn't say anything bad about you guys... :)

The admins here are pretty fair. So long as your not here to mercilessly flog your products and don't mind handing out technical help i'm sure you will be welcomed.

Oh, welcome to DK :)

Thanks very much for the welcome - no we don't mind talking to people about technical issues as it's the best way for us to learn about the things you guys need (or like).

And - as an afterthought, we're not here to mercilessly flog anything - not our style!

Is there any chance of some sort of multi-adaptor?
So I can use the same soic clip and lead with a few different programmers?
At the moment I have 4 different leads and clips.
Some sort of interface box perhaps?

PS. Sorry for not getting back quicker..Been so busy lately and lots of jobs to get finished before going on holidays.
I've used WTS and I can vouch for them too. Nice service!

Me personally prefer this one:

http://media.digikey.com/photos/3M%20Photos/923655-08.jpg

For some eeproms is possible to read write without unsolder
(EX: Golf 3 Dash, just bridge the oscillo near eeprom, and flash on pcb)

Just take care there are no residus on the pins, work well...On board,Offboard:celticparty:

has anyone tried this set of micro grabbers?
Smd Test Probe Set | Rapid Online (http://www.rapidonline.com/Cables-Connectors/Smd-Test-Probe-Set-17-2576/?sid=eddb3cc1-59a7-4c7d-b952-dabe77e396ee)
I just bought a Ponoma set (of 12) for almost $200. But these look like Ponoma clones @ half price.

Now I better find more jobs to pay for these!
