Hi all, turned my wii on for the first time in months perhaps years this weekend, updated to 4.3e then did some research into softmodding. After much faffin i went out bought lego indiana, and I have now got the Homebrew Channel on my wii main screen, Also downloaded Homebrew browser, and downloaded Doom! which was an almighty game when i was a nipper but now i want to get top shelf games!

Im not sure how i go about this.
Do i need Wad Manager? i tried downloadin it to SD card putting it into Apps Folder. renamed it to Boot.dol when i open homebrew I have a Wad Manager App there when i click on it, screen goes Blank and Wii does nothing have to reboot.

Do i have to download games as Wads? where can i get them from?

I appreciate any help in advance as you guys/gals get asked all the time stuff like this from dimwits such as myself

Cheers

you dont download games as wads,if you want games learn how to use bit torrents.when you say you have homebrew channel does that mean you have fully modded your wii?or you just have homebrew channel? normally you dont have to rename wad manager just put the wad manager folder inthe apps folder but make sure wad manager is not in a folder inside another folder

right i managed to sort it last night, through the mauifrog tut

Thanks for the replies though

I now have usb launcher gx and load mii

so do i just download game torrents? can i put them on a usb pen drive how do i play them? is it through usb launcher?

also i didnt know how big the games actually was, i have an external hdd 1tb but i havent partitioned it and its formatted to fat32 so it would play on my dvd player and ps3.
Is there a way of creating a partition on it without deleting any data that i already have on it. Ive used up about 80gb with films, photos, data etc so i really dont wanna lose it if poss.
I dont have enough room on my laptop hd to drag it all onto there temporarily.

You can leave it as FAT32 and transfer games in the .wbfs format instead of .iso usin wii game manager

All you need it cios222/223 or cIOSxr19
And the best USB Loader - CFG USB Loader

game manager is a pc based app install that on your pc.
cios222/223 are mostly used for games with usb hardware get that here Digital Kaos - Downloads - custom cios222v5 installer (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/custom-cios222v5-installer-1188/)
i wouldnt bother with ciox19 if your a novice try this Digital Kaos - Downloads - cios38 rev17 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/cios38-rev17-1134/)
as for cfg loader put the wad files in your wad folder and install with wad manager

Have you installed the USB & Gamma channel forwarders?
not sure? is it an icon on my main screen? i have Neogamma, wii USB loader, usb loader gx, load mii and homebrew channel

On the plus side I Opened usb loader and chose my pen drive which i formatted to wbfs and i was able to add a game through the disk drive, however my pen drive is only 8gb, i so wish i had created partitions on my 1tb hdd :(
But at least i managed to do something, play a game without the disk!! which is something i couldnt last week! :)

there are 2 main game formats, .iso (that you put on a WBFS Partition) and .wbfs (that you put on a FAT32 Partition.

To use fat32 you need to have installed cIOS222/223 - which you have.

Create a WBFS Folder on the Hard Drive
Use Wii Game Manager to convert & copy your .ios to the Hard Drive. (check my sig)
For the copy options your lookin for 'create with subdirectories,4GB Split'
Once you done one it's a doddle.

I'm back this afternoon if you want a walk through

Done that, when i open up CFG usb loader choose HDD it still says no WBFS partition found create or abort

Im off to work now, then playin footie so will be on around 9.30 tonight.
Thanks for the info

Sounds like you not using the right boot.dol for FAT Drives
Download the latest CFG FAT32 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/nv6mnj)
Extract and copy to the root of your SD card

Just re-read and noticed this part. I have a fat32 hdd and an iso file. Do I need to convert it to a .wbfs file in order to add it?

yeah why not just patition your hard drive with this Digital Kaos - Downloads - Partition wizzard home (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/partition-wizzard-home-1038/) have one fat32 and one wbfs and use Digital Kaos - Downloads - wbfs manager 3 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/wbfs-manager-3-1085/) to format the partition you want for the wii and to put the iso,s on it.nearly all wii downloads are iso so theres no messin just put them strait on

royboyz
