advice on flashing

my dreambox 500c should be with me any day now ,i was just wondering what software comes on it when i get it? and do i definatly need to flash it? im ready as ever well in advance ive got cables dream up and dw v2.0 and the auto update fix and ethernet cable,if it does need to be flashed is there anything else i need ,as im a complete noob to this already worrying i might mess something up ,so be much appreciated if it does need to be flashed that you could point me to the step by step guides i need to follow first .

Ah...the excitement of a new box! I remember it well!

The image on the box depends where you bought it from. Some sell it with the basic dream multimedia image and some flash it with a gemini or dw image. If it doesn't have the dw v2 image on it, I would flash that. Use dreamup and your null modem cable...there's a guide here (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=33).

You will need the AU Fix (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1273) and need to know how to FTP (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1307).

I think that's about all. :)

Don't worry about messing it up, it can always be fixed with dreamup.
