airbag problem VW Golf 4 // Mk4

Hey there


I'm driving a '99 Volkswagen Golf Mk 4, motor code is APE
just checked my car using VAG.com 311 and it detected several "errors" + trouble codes ... one of them was:

17931 - P1523
it says (well, I can hardly translate everything into English but I'm trying) crash-signal from airbag control unit: unplausible signal

- something like that.
Hope that makes some kind of scence to anyone.
Can anybody help me? The Airbags haven't exploded.
I think it's an OBD II car, but doesn't have Can-Bus yet (not shure though)

Hi, here I found in OnDemand5

Procedure :
Connect the scan tool.
Switch the ignition on.
Select "Diagnostic Mode 03: Interrogating fault memory ".
Then select "Mode 4: Reset/delete diagnostic data".
The scan tool will display: "Diagnostic data are being erased".
Switch the ignition off.
End of diagnosis.
