Hello,

I have the volvo vida2010a. Now i need a cable to communicate with the vehicle. Is there only the expensive dice to connect or can i use other cables to go from USB to EOBD?

Dice has bluetooth and other options witch i don't need.
Can i use the ELM 327 for example? other suggestions?

somebody has a wiring diagram from the cable with print circuit board and eeprom?

Chinese DiCE comes without bluetooth support and SD card reader.

DiCE is a small Renesas based computer, and it will be quite expensive to build one yourself. It is not like the KKL and other simple interfaces.

Just be sure that the one you buy actually has the bluetooth module and the flash card hardware installed - many dont apparently.

You also dont get the DICE battery cable - so has to be powered by the OBD if you want to see the device from VIDA.


I have not figured out what the dongle is for however!

I have not ventured near downloads yet.... just diags and configuration.

Do you have a link to the Volvo document mentioning the clone DICE interfaces?

The other thing - I have not flashed an interface itself - I am sure Volvo could add future minimum spec requirements on the interface so only older VIDA versions will work.

i been using 2008 suddenly ..some car..when doing diagnosis the software only can detect the front few ecu like engine gearbox n so..all the electronic ecu no response..duno why..anyone got any idea?

I just program keys using 3 day subscription and 2010c used clone dice no problem.

So conclusion is your tool is probably a paperweight now as mine were.... your best bet is to return it and get a refund.

The ignicion apear only when go to diagnosis menu...
These is brand new from china...
Once I hawe test a V70 and it vas all ok now try on XC90,S80 and not working always look like i remove interface from obd and put it back.
The led from "USB com status"blink for a second and after that all led go out and back again like I remove and insert back obd conector to car.
Can these problem come from laptop too?

My buddy has a cloned DICE unit, it works ok, but occasionally he will have to try and read the VIN a few times before it works properly , low battery charge is aother issue he faces.

There is also the fact that it is voltage sensitive, when trying to diagnose or read, ensure car battery is at optimum level, and try not to start the car too often, voltage spikes may cause the unit to fail. Instead use an outboard car battery charger at low/trickle charge, it should give the battery some juice ( 11.5V )

have you tried uninstalling the dice unit then re-installing it ?
if you are using 2010a, try and update the dice firmware, but only do it if you are using 2010a, again after updating the firmware, try and uninstall then re-install it.......also have you tried doing a test via the dice program with the dice units?

Why don't you try to reformat your PC's HDD, reinstall Windows ant VIDA again?

I?m trying to install VOLVO VIDA 2010C after downloading files and a few seconds before installation starts this message appears:
"The screen resolution is below the recommended for VIDA. Change the settings to 1280 x 1024
or this might result in problems running VIDA"

As soon I press ok the second message pops up:

"One or more of the computer?s components does not fulfill VIDA?S requirements. The installation will be aborted"

The thing is I have a new laptop with lots of features and I do not think it cannot fulfill VIDA?S requirements

Power up DiCE first with the OBDII connector and then connect DiCE to a PC via USB. Windows will automatically install the DiCE unit ?Driver? when the USB cable is connected to the USB port.

Someone pm me and had problems with dice clone after installing 2010D. They reinstalled 2010A that came with the clone and dice started working? Maybe the disk that comes with the clone is different? I thought driver from 2010A would be worth a try. I don?t own a clone and have no personal experience with this.

How dit it fail with BLIS nad FSM? Something was wrecked or just no or faulty connection?

Cost depends of time and packages.

1 hour with parts catalog and software download (software download needs parts also) is 357 SEK (excluding VAT and Delivery) for one license. Thats about 38 EUR.

Same thing for 1 day is 44 EUR and 30 days is 311 EUR.

FSM / is part of the collision avoidance system , and the Blis is blind spot detection , 2009 and later , but the clone did not connect and caused the Vida to hang till it crashed closing Windows internet exploder , if that was to happen while in installing a package , the chance of restoring a car form a failed download with a clone would be next to inhospitable.

I know what BLIS and FSM are but thanks for the info about windows crash. There is a risk but i have clone and planning to buy genuine sometime but would like to try clone at the moment. Chinese produce lot of crap but you never know.

Luckily Volvo control modules have separate bootloader so when software loading fails you can start from beginning. Control module wont be trashed like some other cars do. And if clone fails then you can go to dealer and let them load software. Control module will be alive again after loading. At least thats what Volvo claims.

My opinion on sipglass is when the PIE server asks for the VIN readout , market licence purchased from plus whats allowed ,for the market area.The server will grab the Dice number , and the clone #'s will be stopped.

Yes the Dice number is DiCE-206751. Havent reloaded any software yet because haven't got any car that needs it. But have successfully connected to car with legal soft and clone dice. No problems whatsoever. The dice check was ok and even offered me to upgrade dice firmware. I didn't upgrade because maybe it doesn't work with older versions then. The 2011B needs new firmware. Volvo needs to know computer name for subscription but there is no dice number listed. I don't thin they even need it. You can use multiple dices with one computer. As far as i know dice isn't tied to any client.

On the downside i din't get acces to TIE. That means no technical journals available. All required info about software is there. Have to look into it and ask from VCC.

In previous versions (or maybe different market) you could buy software (for vehicle) with credit card. At the moment i have to send a e-mail to my local dealer and have them buy software for me. Then it appears in vida and i can download it. Very inconvenient.

Inconvenient , ? the way that you say the dealer gets involved is not the way I'm use to . Being Euro & AME plus INT SWDL the account calling for software gets Billed, Since you don't have an Account $$$ with them , then the Credit Card is the only way i know of for the Independents..
Now the New Dice firmware is dice_5_6_1.mot for the newer systems on the latest disc that work the collision systems ,Win7 and for the 64bit versions.

I have included the Dice Firmware MOT file.

This firmware update for the Dice is version dependent and Win7 64 bit . I wouldn't use it for -2010D
2011BUE1 is dependent on the 561.

If you have No Dice Firmware Tools , or Recover Dice. see if I can find and post.

Bad clone is very good possible, we had the same with our dice from china.
We tryed an original one to test and that one worked fine.
The chinese dice when we putted that into usb, computer said :found hardware it will not function correctly.
We no got another one from china wich functions ( until now)

My DICE works perfect from day one, now i use the last firmware (5.6.1) and VIDA 2011A .

Did anyone use 2011B ? I cannot install it and I am stuck with 2011A .
