Hi,

I wanted to ask you, if theres another possibility, without to
desolder the 2X PLCC32 chip of the ECU, and with
what programmer do you read out these chips?

I will take WILLELM is that OK for this job?

ECU NR: 0281001845---PRODUCER: BOSCH--

May it be possible to write the new SW, on the
original (desoldered) chips, or must I buy new ones?

And if I have to buy new ones, whats the name/type
of the chip?

Thx, Regards

no , you can?t , because this eproms are OTP ( one time programming ) ... so buy others. you can use 27C010 or 27C1001 or 29F010.

Hi there, I am working on a similar unit at the moment.
I have some pics and files that may be of interest.
It is part number 0281001720 from a 98 passat with engine code AFN. It has the two plcc32 OTP chips, I think its called MSA15.

Today I flashed new file onto the replacement 27c1001 EPROMs. I used an external 12V 2A PSU to supply the programming voltage.
I need to thank swat cat for the important advice about the pins in the sockets, the sockets in my willem are a little too deep, I put a 1mm spacer underneath the chip so that the chip is level with the top of the socket when programming.
Currently waiting for some 29c010 flash chips and I will also be trying some 29f010 chips, when they arrive I can give further updates on progress.

i`ve tryed to put 29fxxx but didn`t worked.... `dont know why....

i think is a very simple reason : time access ... check datasheet for more details

I never got to try the 29F010 as I ordered the wrong package type:(
The 29C010A flash chips worked out very well for me tho,I have flashed the same pair 10 times so far without any hassles.
I have been using the 5volt usb supply for this (the flash chips do not need the higher voltage).
When I can get around to trying some more options I will post the results here.
Ori files in the attachment.
