Hi all
Can I remove and read:
1H0 953 257 B vag immo box
3D33J ( MC68 HC05 B8 )

Can I read it with adapter on xprogm?
Does it matter if i don't connect "optional wires" from xprogm datasheet?

tnx

Yes, you should be able to read it onboard, but not in all cases, because XProg has some issues with HC05Bx. For these MCUs I recommend ETL Programmer.

Hi i used my x-prog to read HC05 last week from vag immo box. Used file to obtain security code. No problems. Remove and solder to adapter supplied. Hot air rework station makes this an easy job.

maaxxyy pls, provide more info.
What adapter did you use, is mask same as mine 3D33J ( MC68 HC05 B8 ) ?

I tried adapter for HC058BX on both slots with pins i always get:
Reading device to NONAME2...Device is silent. Timeout error
Elapsed time: 00:00:04.646

Device is silent.
Elapsed time: 00:00:08.41

I don"t now for X-prog but with ETL is so easy, just desolder MCU from board and read (that is small MCU with 52 pin it is not problem for you I hope).

As I said... XProg does not read HC05x always and that is a problem with original programmer, too.

Thanks m8's i did read it and immoreader works ok also.
I've read another with no problem.
I did it using adapter but also i see that there is scheme on xprog that indicats it can be done on pcb.
Has anyone tried this method?
Am asking 'cos its little painful to solder it back, there is 4mhz clock in was and plastic on other side :)

Use hot air rework station and some flux, this makes the job less painful to remove and install.

I yestarday can?t read isp this MCU via xprog. But I change xtal to 4MHz. But without success. I desolder PLCC from board, mount to xprog adapter and read correctly in few seconds. When havy anybody timeout, device silent message. Must clean contacts with IPA or must have activate security authorization. I use ori xprog.

have you read other chips with your x prog cos device silent you need to select enviroment and port settings usb serial bus and that should do the trick

"device is silent" message has more than reason.
