Hello,

I have a BMW E36 convertible which has the ecu that controls the roof missing, Can i use a second hand ecu or are they programmed to the car?

Any help appreciated

Yes, just do it, there is a youtube video on re-sink

basically, fold roof back, re-latch both motors, get a fat friend to press on the 'drivers side rear' bit, to latch the switch, hold open button 12 seconds, starts to work, move fat person out the way.

doo a google search for some inferior bmw forum, leech the 3 pdf files.

check the wiring in the hinge tail gate first.

also check dashswitch ok, normally wires snap in the canvas

I got a fatboy at the garage, problem is he might tip the car over so i i will put him on special K for a week lol

Not yet mate trying to track down a 2nd hand roof module, like rocking horse sh!t me thinks lol
