Hallo to all,
is there eny body, who can hepl me to change serial number of my HDD in Ubuntu?? :banghead:I have new HDD and my odl program(lecense) require HDD serial number of the previous HDD. Thanks for any purposeful answer.

As far as I know the serial number of a hdd is hardcoded and cannot be changed. Please let us know if you find a solution.

This is the first time I learn that a license program ties itself to hard drive serial number. I think probably only the sofware provider can help you. Hard drive is the least reliable hardware among all system. Even if it is working, people upgrade it with a larger one all the time. I have moved my XP to newer disk (using Symantec Ghost utility) at least twice and even Adobe Photoshop took it without complaint.

If it is really asking for the serial of the hd, it is going to be difficult.
However it is more likely it is just looking for the uuid, which you can change with gparted.
