Just trying to convince the Mrs we NEED a dm8000 , and wondered if any members have one , read some good things about them on other forums , and wondered if any one has one , and whats their verdict ?
Have read elsewhere that they are made in same factory as genuine , and are exactly same spec / quality standards other than the sim , not sure if this is spin just sell more boxes ?
Any opinion good or bad welcome , TIA

A friend of mine brought it from a local company in the Uk because the guy told him it came with one year warranty.
I saw the box my self the side panels are not shiny like the original they are dull flimsy plastic panels And look incredibly cheap.
The Dreambox DM8000 clones are of the first generation beta Dreamboxes and not of the new current dreambox 1.1 1.2 and 1.3. The Dreambox DM8000 clone has a very poor glitch tuner that can’t be replaced for an original ALPS REV K tuner because they are soldered on and he wanted to use the existing 2 tuners for terrestrial.
The boxes are also not CE certified product so it can blow up at any time.
The Wifi adapter inside the box is also not certified and only works 3 meters away from his Wifi hub. But luckily he had a 200mbps addon homeplug which enabled him to have the wireless boost to his Dreambox DM8000.
The front panel of the box is very flimsy and doesn’t stay closed properly because the lock is made of cheap plastic.
My Mate box is now faulty after couple of weeks. He wants to send it back the place he brought it from so he called them up and they said that they received a letter from dream multimedia lawyers in uk and he has closed the business so they are unable to give a refund. Now he is under ?500 pounds out of pocket.
I told him to buy a Dreambox DM500HD for ?319 but he wanted to be able to record one channel and watch the other so I said to him to buy VU+ duo ?389 as it has 2 X DVBS-2 Tuners but he did not listen

Geart Post KMM....
The underlying issue is DreamMultimedia are now perceived as a premium or Luxury item, either it been a Clone or an original some people will still be tempted buying a Clone Receiver of a model (thats nearly a Thousand Quid) for less than a Few Hundred pounds.
Original Dreambox prices virtually never change over there life span, this reflects the Production costs, R&D, Customer service, opperating Cost of there overall Business including Software deveploment by Gemini who have to be payed as well.
So when one considers A clone can be as little as Half the price of an Original if not more there have to be fundamental differences with the Materials, quality, and Production for this Price to be Half the cost of the Originals.
If Dream could make Receivers for these price's (They Would) and they would have them in every Store, every online store, every electronice catalogue receiver section etc, They would sell ten times as many and make even more money in the long run by flooding the market place.
But why not ? because they cost to much to make to sell them any Cheaper, And The profit margin Between the Store's selling Originals & Dream-Multimedia is only around 12% per unit across the range.
Buy a Real Dreambox and It will work for years, Buy a Clone and you will only end up buying another in a year or two, & when you add up the cost eventually you might as well have bought an Original one in the first place.

cant agree with any of this.
bought a blackbox years ago, still works perfect.
its been said on many dreambox forums that the clones work better than the originals. (even the administrators admit this).
take their flagship model, the 500hd. major bootup problem (google it) overheating/tuner lockups etc.
i bought a dm8000 clone and it is by far the best box i've ever owned. amazing picture quality, fast zapping and great support.
all plugins and dvd work.
you can now load original images followed by SSL76F.
do a bit of searching and you can get it for the same price as the vu+ delivered, yet get four tuners, wifi, dvd drive and a standby button all extra.
come on.
soon, i will be able to load apps onto my dreambox.
will the vu+ ever do that.
doubt it.

The guy was asking about the dm8000, I have never seen one but a guy I know on another forum got one and is very happy with it.
I have a clone dm800 and yes it was better than my original dm800, I sold my original dm800.
I also own a VU+Duo and Cuberevo.
Out of them all the Cuberevo has the better picture quality but its still a bit unstable.

I am not anti Dreambox I am anti clone dreambox
I hate companies that sell clone items and keep on changing their names, ducking and divining with no proper address to send your goods back.
As King Alunfennell said ?Buy a Real Dreambox and It will work for years, Buy a Clone and you will only end up buying another in a year or two?
People loose lot's of money and faith in each other. I can assure you pal
I am not anti dreambox as I my self have an original dreambox

I dont think its fair to just dismiss clones as a whole , i got a decent one dm800, and bar for a tuner issue (which a bit of soldering fixed) its been really good value , for half the price of an original its money well spent in my eyes . Also no more issues with patched images , as Ferrari and sim2 clones can now run original images , And the cloners are gettin better and better by the week ,
i believe the cloners strive to supply good quality boxes , as with this hobby and forums like this , word soon spreads as to who`s reliable and who`s sellin crap ,
Where as dmm know , regardless of if they send a product to market too early or not, it will still sell
just my tuppence worth

All clone dreambox?s and all other counterfeit items are not CE certified products so they can blow up then set your house on fire at any time. Did you not here about the family who went to Spain and brought a counterfeit PSU and then the next day they found their son dead because the PSU had electrocuted him. It was on panaroma on bbc one

Hi
the first "beta" dm8000 clones were a bit shonky, case was well out, side panels were naff- but it worked...then the production ones were kewl - now the one and only factory that makes them ran out of oleds and not due in till october - due to pressure from punters they kept production going using LCD and selling them a tad cheaper. Almost everyody I know of selling them at minute is selling LCD version - great receiver and worth every penny ( imho) but not OLED (beware of liars (especially chinese resellers) who say theirs are OLED if they are then whoever selling them doesnt sell many, OLED ones due back in october but probably shoot up again to around the half price mark...as other poster says Vu+ duo worth a mention but in my DM8000 i stuck in dvd burner and stuff (just because i could) and I love it (in a non sexual way). hope this helps

DMM are good machines but vastly overpriced imo.
The cost of them isn't to do with the 'quality parts', it's to do with pure fcuking greed.
I'm sure the VU+ Duo will wipe it's arse with the DM8000 on sales.

buying a clone is always going to have risk involved with them first they all come from china and the returns policy to china is iffy to say the least. Then if you buy direct from china you may also be hit with customs charges. All genuine dreambox have been tested to eu standers of safety and with all dreamboxs to get the best out of them you need to leave them running/standby 24/7 so you may be asleeep or out of the house you want peace of mind that your box is not going to catch fire. Then a few years back dream multimedia along with gemini manged to brick a lot of clones rendering them useless till a jtag fix came out to bring them back to life this could happen again at any time

Wouldnt risk it from china mate , imagine the customs charges on a ?400 item , would prefer to get one from a uk supplier Worlds No.1 HD satillite receiver - DM8000 (http://www.primusat.co.uk/) seems good ,a mate got an 800 from him and he is chuffed with it

My clone from DVBseller is ok but wont move the motor
more often than not, i sent it back to them in the box
and they returned it wrapped in bubble wrap with a
broken flip on the front and a chip on one of the corners.
They refused me another or even a new front panel saying they would supply one on my next order
pure conmen.
On the few occasions it moves it picture quality
was good as was sound but my messing around
waiting then getting it back damaged has p-----
me off.

Hi
Can I just say this wasnt me, but DVBseller, I am uk based and Duty has been paid on my boxes, I too like the vu+ box, I am also an enthusiast...but whatever receiver you buy will probably be built in china - the protection you get is from UK person you buy from, they are responsible for your warrenty. I carry spare parts and am a registered business in UK paying UK taxes - this is why I am more expensive than buying from china.
i give some discount to Kaos members as I too am a sat geek and love the scene, but the taxman demands I make a few quid.
best wishes
