need to change a .zip file to a .ipsw
how would i do this as win 7 64bit wont seam to let me

Not sure why you would change a zip file to an ipsw? The IPSW files I played with were iPhone firmwares...

downloaded 4.0.1 for iphone its a zip , I need to change it to .ipsw so itunes can see it , so i can update from 3.1.3 to 4.0.1 as i dont want to go on 4.0.2 as no jb on 4.0.2

I'll give you the direct link to download the IPSW directly from Apple... what device ? 3G, 3Gs ?

Replace the h**p with http...

thanks mate, it comes up as a zip n win764, i just tryed it in fire fox and its a ipsw

When you download these files Windows defaults them to .zip.

In the file, save as window you clicked through the one below the filename allows you to choose the file type. Change it to all files and then add .IPSW to your file name - Simplessss :alberteinstein:

Just noticed you didn't get your firmware, try this -
