Please check or send a screenshot of the Edic Hardware Installation and the screenshot of the Edic Software configuration too so you can see if the device is correctly recognized by the computer.
Sometimes the bluetooth has a problem with the Com enumerator and gets miced up. To clear this you can follow this instruction.

Did you follow the instruction for resetting the bluetooth COM ports as posted above?

Your device is not correctly recognized by VAS.

The last method is to remove all bluetooth devices and reinstall VAS again.

I have the same problem with CLONE VAS 5054A on VASPC v18.
"THE DEVISE NUMBER COULD NOT BE READ". What i guess is The clone VAS 5054A can't support anything Greater than V15. I have try so hard on few laptop on different version of Windows but still getting the same message. Will need to get a original VAS5054A then.

1st m8, check IF your Clone Head can works with VAS-PC properly, because with Version 18 (IF you plan to use this version...)

my problem is looks like yours , my vas5054 works very well with v16 and v15, but when i try use v17 gives this error.
Some vas5054s produced or sold 5-6 month ago has old firmware and not work new softwares like v17 and v18.

i see on the some chinesse seller sites that they offer firmware upgrade their customers who has this old vas5054s.

we should look forward the way of upgrade? , i think it solves the this problems..

i have a strange problem about vas 5054. i installed the version V18 and to check it i diagnose an Audi A4 (2004) and it was ok. But now, it do not recognise any control unit except ABS. I changed the vas 5054 with new one but result is the same on same computer. On that computer i also have mb xentry.
connection is via usb cable and i get absolutely no errors on startup.
What is wrong with my software or hardware? can someone give me an advice?

I have read through the DK "VAS-PC not communicate with car" thread and tried to solve my probolem with VAS 5054A V17. Excuse me if my story is a little bit long....
As many people, I also bought a VAS5054A V17 Chinese clone in November 2010. At first I requested many sellers to give a good price, then I chose not the cheapest one, then ordered it. Previously, among others I asked them, that VAS5054A has various versions or not, or only the SW versions are updated and different, V14....V18. The answer was: the hardware of VAS5054A always the same, only the SW changes. I didn't have experience with this equipement, but on the other hand I was a computer developer as an electrical engineer, and later a serviceman dealing with high performance printers and other computer controlled electromechanical equipements.(so I learn that: neither HW and nor SW is perfect, but it isn't exclude: to operate well sometimes. Usually I repaired my cars since the last 30 years as a hobby. Now I have a computerized VW Passat, and I learn the lessons.
So I'm very familiar with computers, but there is a strange problem (or phenomenon). The situation is briefly: OPSYS: WinXP SP3. JRE, JVM installed, then Base V17 (came with the VAS54) and VW brand V17 (from qclt.com) also installed on a commercial (normal) laptop. The test car was my Passat Wagon 2010, CR TDI 2.0, 103 kW, engine code CBA.... it hasn't any problem so far, (faultless). The VAS 5054A was electrically connected properly, communication via bluetooth was setup sucessfully, I think. (EDIC install, HW, SW config. was OK.) Its flashing blue LED changed to the permanently "on" status/It is also operated well using USB cable (direct) connection. The workshop code, dealer number etc. was filled in, the default starter equipement number "999999" was automatically overwritten by the SW with the real VAS 5054A SNo.



Then starting the VASPC SW, and trying to start OBD, or Guided Fault Finding functions, giving the apropriate model, year, engine code etc. if needed the communication seemed to be good in both cases (blue LED flashed according to the data rate while SW was running) but:

in case of OBD mode, tests run for a long time, there was no controller system recognition at all. Message: ECU doesn't respond etc. Not any normal result.
In case of Guided Fault Finding mode, the program run for a while then the result was: "This is a CAN vehicle, but no CAN communication is possible"
During that processes above, sometimes an indicator lamp rarely-randomly flashed on dashboard. This time I became nervous - what would be happened - perhaps it just corrupts the ECU firmware or like that. But I was lucky, the car after a new start was good.
The relevant point is : everything seems to be operated well, but no proper data link, or the program unable to give a normal report becouse of something. It behaves as a dummy simulated running. The only thing is recognised correctly, if ignition key was on/off. (starting the functions above while ignition key is off, the program stopped and a warning message appeared to take the ignition key on. Taken it on, the program goes on) However, there is communication on this level. It is sure.

At the same time the program doesn't say a word if something wouldn't be allright (e.g. license key, intallation, connection or something like that) is not correct etc. The VAS 54 was connected properly, ignition key was on etc.
So I can use it for nothing. Is there any something special I should know ?? I have not any possibility to test it on another types of car.



I'm unable to decide:

Simply I'am stupid and not noticed something
VAS 5054A HW (firmware) incompatible with the newest cars (but V17 brand contains them)
The V17 SW incompatible with the VAS 5054A HW (firmware) - can it be updated practically?
Even so, the intallation is improper, but I'm not able to identify the problem
Is any missing SW patch or licence code, but it doesn't indicate that?
There is a similar web page forum, which recommends a SW which (after downloading and installing) can generate a long ident code on your PC (such as 6DF0539C5EA6D8A0C17F3D09) and then you may request a license key for this ident code then you should copy it to C:\SIDIS\home\bin... What is this, when Patrian wrote, that licence code not needed?
What exactly VAS-PC HotFix For Version 17.00 is good for ? Meanwhile I realised, that is the reduced function ADM.exe which can bybass the license question. And the Hotfix V18.00.exe is the real "modifyer" program, that produces the modified ADM.exe, which is totally the same as Hotfix 17.00 itself ( by No of bytes, by content, by generation date, by version/build number, by manufacturer)
Forgive me please. I don't want to understand everything, but I would like a well functioning VAS PC with VAS 5054A http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

Im try to rename as vas5054 with Diagnostic Interface Configuration Utility and....PC don"t recognition devaice via USB. VID0000, PID0000. When Im power on device, led blinking onse end off. Any solutions?

In the first image that is the serial from the device (not important).
The second picture with the 725 at the end, that is the Bluetooth key (which is important).
That made me irritated even with the configuration of VAS5054A.

In case of Guided Fault Finding mode, the program run for a while then the result was: "This is a CAN vehicle, but no CAN communication is possible"
During that processes above, sometimes an indicator lamp rarely-randomly flashed on dashboard. This time I became nervous - what would be happened - perhaps it just corrupts the ECU firmware or like that. But I was lucky, the car after a new start was good.

The relevant point is : everything seems to be operated well, but no proper data link, or the program unable to give a normal report becouse of something. It behaves as a dummy simulated running. The only thing is recognised correctly, if ignition key was on/off. (starting the functions above while ignition key is off, the program stopped and a warning message appeared to take the ignition key on. Taken it on, the program goes on) However, there is communication on this level. It is sure.

At the same time the program doesn't say a word if something wouldn't be allright (e.g. license key, intallation, connection or something like that) is not correct etc. The VAS 54 was connected properly, ignition key was on etc.
So I can use it for nothing. Is there any something special I should know ?? I have not any possibility to test it on another types of car.



I'm unable to decide:

Simply I'am stupid and not noticed something
VAS 5054A HW (firmware) incompatible with the newest cars (but V17 brand contains them)
The V17 SW incompatible with the VAS 5054A HW (firmware) - can it be updated practically?
Even so, the intallation is improper, but I'm not able to identify the problem
Is any missing SW patch or licence code, but it doesn't indicate that?
There is a similar web page forum, which recommends a SW which (after downloading and installing) can generate a long ident code on your PC (such as 6DF0539C5EA6D8A0C17F3D09) and then you may request a license key for this ident code then you should copy it to C:\SIDIS\home\bin... What is this, when Patrian wrote, that licence code not needed?
What exactly VAS-PC HotFix For Version 17.00 is good for ? Meanwhile I realised, that is the reduced function ADM.exe which can bybass the license question. And the Hotfix V18.00.exe is the real "modifyer" program, that produces the modified ADM.exe, which is totally the same as Hotfix 17.00 itself ( by No of bytes, by content, by generation date, by version/build number, by manufacturer)
Forgive me please. I don't want to understand everything, but I would like a well functioning VAS PC with VAS 5054A http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

Haven't got any idea what the problem is?

For most purpose, VCDS (aka VAG-COM) from Ross-Tech: Home (http://www.ross-tech.com) should be sufficient.

It can handle most of the task including Basic Setting, Coding, Adaptation, and, of course, Automated DTC scan.

While the VASPC may have the Guided Fault Finding Function, I have not come across any problem which VCDS could not solve. Experience is still more important imo.

I have a communication problem with VAS5054A, VASPC v18.00.00. Reports fault diagnostic bus (not response from the interface , Disturbed communication and sometimes a low-voltage OBD2. But the tension is 13.6 V) using only a USB.
I have a problem on most new cars. Old cars around 2000 working well. I think it is a bug in a series of bad hardware VAS5054A. I tried the software version 17 and 18 Maybe it worked better with version 15? Or does anyone have any idea? Or a firmware patch? anyone help a noviceto the the forum ?

I have installed Vas v 18 english and now got v15 on Croatian but whe I install it i got erorr that ONLY ONE INSTANCE OF THE VAS PC DIAGNOSIS SOFTWARE IS PERMITED ON THE SISTEM
How can I complectly unistall previos version of Vas?

When you want to using VAS-PC = RENAME BMW Tools Folder temporary to anything you like,
and when you want to using BMW Tools = RENAME the Sidis Folder again temporary to anything you like!
