View Full Version : 8 bit and 16 bit EEPROM

Folks, sometime I see here that some kind of EEPROM has 8 bit and other 16 bit. How I can recognize the right type of memory chip before trying to read and write that chip. Please help me understand it if someone know about this things. Thank you.

What I'll get if I'll try to read or write 8 bit EEPROM with a 16 bit mode and vice versa?

to be shure read dumps in both mode and save it :) i faced with this problem on 93cXX family eeproms, as i remember for dash eeproms always the 16 bit option was correct. but to be shure just read it in both mode :)

You can find datasheets for each type of MCU's and EEPROM's (using Google). There are infos about chip's organization.

Example for 93C66:
