Impossible to read the KM Audi A3!

Hello,

I can not read the KM has a A3 (8L) 2003 or on the dash or on the ECU!
ECU Ref: 038906019DE is an EDC 15P+.
Ref Dash: 8L0920900M is an KOMBI + WEGFAHRS. M73 D05

I tried first with VCDS, to know the origin of KM, without result, I got an error message:
"VCDS has not been able to find a KM in this calculator.
the calculator is either unknown or does not store the KM".

then you know like me, the stores well EDC15 KM.

Then I tried with "vag k + can V1.4":
on the ECU and it found nothing on the dash, I got a message that it is connected but no information on the contents of the dash (see screem)!

I also tested with "vag eeprom V1.18":
same error message: "unknow software version"

Have you ever read or modified the KM this car?

on the one I had before I could do it without problem, it was an A3 (8L) 2000.

Most probably the dash has been replaced to a new one. the software changes so you may need to pull apart the unit and read and write manually.

possible that a dash was changed! but it must be by the same generation (IMMO 1, 2 or 3) in this case I must be able to read and change the KM. so this is not the case.

may be that this thesis is true, but that does not explain the fact of not being able to read and change the KM in the ECU!

its a magneti with protected checksumms thats why you cant change km using the tools you have. i think they changed in 2001 sometime.

A3 2004 M73 use "only" 9129S129S12X Programmer V1.54.

not all ecu's from that year have stored km inside ...
maybe yours is ono of them .
please post here eeprom contents from your ecu to check it

No, he is right. 9S12x Programmer from ERD-Pauli also supports old 8L MM73 dash via BDM connector. That is the safest way. There is a high right that you get 999999km via OBD.

you can use UPA , you must solder 4 wires

vag tacho latest and k+can latest confirmed working on usa 2000 year m73 magnetti marelli dash. latest versions though... hope this helps.

a3 from 2001/06 M73(magnetymarely) has check sum, be cerfull, you can make 999999km if check sum will be not corect!

I have no Vagtacho, I just tried to tell you that with the vagtacho I risk damaging my dash.

I have DP3 and Enigma, but M73 from 2001 to 2004 I am doing with Login reader from Codecard.lt, think it is best tool for thees M73

On some A3 & TT kms or miles are at different address !

When you do lots of these, you will suddenly come across 912 micro in cluster that will not read miles. This is the micro with the different mileage address.

Forget the ecu, look only in the micro.
You waste your valuable drinking time playing with the tools you have on this car.
you must be able to go direct to micro to do it

I just got the info, this programmer 912/9S12/9S12X Programmer V1.54, works on the A3 from 2004 (8P)

Final conclusion: it is not possible to change the mileage on a kombi M73 on A3 2003 (8L).
