IF you using USB -----> RS232 Converter-Adapter you need to use 1 OTHER-DIFFERENT from this that you using NOW!!!
Did not takes ANY role what O/S you using..... :)
Good Luck! :top:

You check configuration SPS for work with COM2 ?
I think your SPS try connect to COM1, but Tech2 connected to COM2.

i have ran into this on tis2000
you can set it to use another com port besides com1 and it may communicate sometimes but not perfectly
set it to com1 and it just works
just to clarify i have seen this on multiple different pc's and different connections (both motherboard mounted and keyspan usb adapter)

If you have the loop back adapter would this allow you to self-test the tech 2 to see if there are any faults/errors?

Perhaps this is not the solution to your problem, but when I first try co connect my Tech2 to PC i was getting hard time at the beginning.... What I did was just modify the CACHE MEMORY from 20 mb to 60mb After that worked perfect....
Hope this is the light at the end of the tunnel....
