Had this sucker tonight, normally chip in the middle of the board, this time near the thin onboard glued LCD flatcable.
Tip of the day, put some aluminium foli on the flatcable or you're LCD flatcable will be history :-) while removing the 35080.

On these, a good idea is to turn the pcb so the ribbon cable is nearest to you and point the hot air AWAY from you.
This keeps the jet of hot air awayfrom the ribbon cable.
Please make sure you dont play blow football with the smd`s

got a lot of these and never damaged the flatcable. easy job with soldering iron. I never use hotair for SOIC-8 IC

Can it be done with tacho universal (can it erase this 35080)?

tacho universal cannot erase this eeprom. you will need etl or dashcoder, digiprog, dp3...they can erase it.
with tacho universal you have to replace the eeprom

Digiprog & DP3 can't erase a 35080 VP, can they ? you still have to change chip.

as far as im aware, etl can and enigma have released a new adapter to do it ( i really want 1)lol
