Chanel adaptations are model specific. Manual is the best way. The combinasion of Ross-Tech and ELSA will get you ther usually

VCDS alias VAG-COM is pretty slick in that it will load up data blocks with car specific info once you drag your mouse over the block, open the file supplied, then you can see. A modified version of this tool would be GREAT..with immo read and a few other things. The software you have arbrites, is GREAT stuff ..wish I had an interface , hear it is good..all the commanders and such.
It is well worth the price of admission(cable-interface) to be able to use VCDS and get all the updates free.
