Any one own (or familiar with) 1998 Camaros? Just wanted to compare notes on some common issues and/or TSBs. I own one and have some electrical issues, as well as some mysterious noises that can't be identified. :hmmmm2:
Thanks!

Ah, thanks! You're kind to reply! I think your reply alone, brought me GOOD LUCK, with regard to my main mystery! I have had this horrific noise coming from underneath my car for over 6 months now... MANY meachanics have looked at it and they couldn't pin-point the problem... Even two deealerships- OMG!
Then, friends were saying maybe this, or maybe that ... Like maybe my rear-end (gears bad, teeth breaking off, etc.), or possibly a wheel bearing, and blah. blah, blah...
FINALLY, just yeaterday, the culprit was found! My lower tranny mount has been broken all this time and it's been bouncing around and grinding with everthing else under my car. Now just gotta come up with the money to fit it :(
Just a few hundred dollars though... Could have been worse I suppose.
Thanks for your interest and willingness to help!
Regards, :girl:

A few hundred for a trans mount?
Did it take out the tail housing?
Heres a mount for $21 usd

Motor mounts are cheap too if you reuse the clam shell. If you have the LS1 you need them. Extreme Energy has a kit i
bought for mine $180 poly everything front and rear suspension motor and trans mounts torque arm. Boxed the rear control arms really tightened it up, like its on rails now.
What electrical gremilins are haunting you?

Thanks for all of your info! Sorry it's taken so long to reply! I had a friend replace my tranny mount (it was a hydraulic one). You were right, the part was cheap... I think it was $40 and didn't have to pay for the labor... A good friend! Four days after he replaced it, I was so upset, as the noise came back!
He just looked at it for me, the other night and the mount seems to be okay. Not quit sure what the deal is now...
What is that thing that is just off to the left of the tranny mount (passenger side - left)? It's black and rectangular and looks like it's made out of hard rubber or something (kinda like an exhaust hanger) and then it sits in a black plastic case that snaps shut. I think it maybe cushions the tranny mount area?
Sorry if I'm talking in "girl language", but it's because I am a female- LOl!

Torque arm mount
mounts on the drivers side rear of the trans
the arm runs back to the rear axle housing
These mounts are also inexpensive if you buy the poly aftermarket. They can be frustrating to install, the metal housing is reused after cutting the rivets out of it. The poly mounts are far superior the the OEM.

346LSX,
You are a God! Thank you for that info! That part has been a flippin' mystery! The few mechanics that did ID it, were all calling it different names. Thanks to you, not only do I have the correct part name for it, but a picture of it as well. Thank you, thank you!
Now, will you make a trip out here to Arizona and work on my car? LOL! I don't trust any of theses fools here in AZ that have looked at it!
Thanks Again,
Kim
