one of my kids was foolish enough to buy a blackberry 9000 off a friend of a friend, the problem is after unlocking it so that it would work on o2 we discovered that the phone is locked.
I dont know much about phones, but understand that this can be fixed, by changing something on the phone, all i need to know is what and how?
Please help, she is driving me mad as she paid for the phone and now cant use it.

just a thought but you could download blackberry desktop manager and then do a firmware update to the latest version and that MIGHT remove the lock.

my understanding is that it has been blocked by the network, so i'm thinking more about needing to change the phones IMEI number?
Any ideas?

only trouble with changing the IMEI number is that it is a serious criminal offence, but im sure if you google it then all the info can be found there.

As far as I'm aware you cannot change the IMEI on the Blackberry. And, as stated, it's a big no no.
If it's unlocked it's better to sell it overseas. Just hope Blackberry don't know it's been reported, if they do then it could be a problem.
Your other optionis to call your network to check on the IMEI listing. They might tell you why it was blocked. If lost try calling the original network. Tell them you've found it down the back of the sofa & would like to use it with another SIM.
If the person you're speaking to is a dim-wit, they might lift the blacklisting.
