Needs to be a 3g compatible router, like the Edimax below...

Edimax 3G-6200N nLite WiFi 3G Broadband Router: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

You need to use a 3G router.. The sim card from the Broadband dongle goes into the router.. then you just connect the dreambox via WiFi as if it was a hardwired broadband router..

You need a router like the one below.. this is where the sim card goes into..

Zalip CDG561 3G Router - Zalip CDG561 is an embedded 3G HSPA WiFi Router with 4 x LAN Ports and 1 x WAN Port (http://www.3grouterstore.co.uk/3G/Zalip_CDG561_3G_Router.html)

Then you need to put a wifi dongle in the back of the D800 and it will connect to the router

EDIT...

Ha ha dave-h beat me too it..!!

I have just set this up today in the front room which is bottom of house and reception isnt that great to be honest and if i have it plugged in down here i normally need to put router on window to get decent speed. If its for the laptop I normally put it in the loft room on the window and connect using wifi.
Anyway with the box plugged into dream its no where near the window and i'm not getting any freezes or glitches and I'm using the lappy too via wifi.

I have a 3g-6200n edimax nlite 3g broadband router but the trick is to make sure that your dongle works with the router before you leave the shop, I have mine working in my mobile home in Youghal with a dm800hd with little trouble but I stick to the non-hd channels.

I started this thread a while ago does anyone with a 3 dongle get good ecm times and consistant channels without frezze or glitch thanks.

It is possible but its very dependant on your location. Pretty much everything from the weather to what other people around you on the same network are doing.

Most 3G networks have a relatively small amount of bandwidth available to all users in a cell. If everybody in the cell is using data services then your response times can drop significantly (i've seen ping times of 6 seconds). Unfortunately, encouraging your friends/neighbours to connect up using the same method can have a detrimental effect on your own results !

These problems are generally why I suggest mobile dongles are not a particularly good solution for CS. They are mostly just too unpredictable.
