Make sure the pole is plumb all around, send the dish to BBC world news on Thor and move the dish around until you pick it up.

Assuming your dish and motor are set up correctly, Set the motor to zero, get a compass and poiint the dish due south . Loosen off the dish and motor and send the dish to Thor 1W BBC world news. If you haven't got a sat finder then Swivel the dish around the pole and move it up and down until you get something. This isn't as easy as it sounds lol but yu will get there in the end.

Have you done what i said ? It's not locking because it needs to be tweaked to find the satellite. Have you had it working before ? what is your snr

You can find your lat and long settings by putting your postcode in, in multimap. Also have a quick look here m8 http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f11/how-install-motorised-dish-42881/#post216878

seems ok but you should really be seeing a pic. Check your lat and long are correct, though you may need to get up the ladder and move the dish a bit.

You need to get back to basics m8. Did you check your lat and long and enter them, have you tried moving the dish manually ? You've got to be lucky to send your dish to Thor and pick up the BBC world news signal without moving the dish around, I think thats's your problem, you need to move the dish itself

You wont have 7w m8 unless you been to jodrell bank and borrowed a dish lol. If your picking something up then 's not 7w. You need to start from scratch. The most accurate way is to set the motor to zero get a compass point the dish Due south, move it to 1w and stay on 1w. Tune into BBC world news as thats the strongest channel and MOVE THE DISH until you get a picture. Forget about other satellites. Once you get this sorted you will pick all the other satellites up in the arc

If you are still struggling put your sat box on 1w bbc then drop a plum bob off the bottom of your L bracket were it hits the ground get your compass and chalk a line south(so its directly under your dish) this is because the metal in your dish can effect the compass and not give you south. Then line the arm on your dish with the chalk line.Next look next door at there sky dish and make sure your angles are roughly the same, put your meter in line with the sat box and lnb(by passing the motor)
Turn the dish slightly to the right(looking from behind the dish)moving up and down the angle of the dish till you get a signal then fine tune it till the signal gets strong.tighten everything up.

You could well be on Hotbird at 13e. There are quite a few Russian channels on this sat. If you have looked at other sky dishes as a sight reference pointing at 28.2e, then moved it a little to what you think is south, you may have picked up a Russian signal on 13e (I think!!!).
There are a few eastern Europe bits on 0.8w, which could be your south.
I dont think there is anything Russian on 8w, mainly arab or middle eastern things.
I got a feeling you could be on 13e.
