after repeating the restore method about 10 times, ive got my ipod back running. on the 3.1.3 firmware. thinking of jailbreaking with redsnow 0.9.2 using the 3.1.2 firmware patch.........

Think u should use blackrain then u can stay on 3.1.3 more compatable with newer apps etc.....

first u need to get firmware files for your version of i touch... google them and download.

then u need to put in dfu mode and restore it clicking shift and choosing the file of the firmware u just download it

easyest way is to go to jailbreakme on wifi network on with your itouch and let it work

install cydia after instal hackolus (google it) and instalous

and thats it
