If your area is nag3 then its not going to work, dont bother updating the firmware, just try to return for a refund.:(

It will only receive the few FTA channels.
Try to send it back and exchange for a Kryptview a780.
This will work similar but will need connected to your router(internet)
The ex1000 is no good for anything anymore.
