M8 I got the DADDY to that little splitter and I can assure you after using it for years........the first Sprinter to come in for ball joints it cracked my advise is to spend a bit more money and buy SYKES if you are doing Sprinters alot

I second the above post. Got the 'same type' Skyes NOT SURE WHAT SIZE MINE IS
but basically had a Mini subframe off the car, was splitting the ball joints, exaggerate, exaggerate, exaggerate but had it wound 1500 turns after 'it stopped winding' and still the thing held, got Peter Gabreial out - sledge hammer, twatted it, the only thing that stopped the hub from flying across the yard VIOLENTLY was the drive shaft!

See if you can buy one of these from a local motor facors, or even try German Swedish and Polish, see if Eurocarparts.com do tools? Have a go, see if it shatters (like a VW window), if it does send it back, for credit/upgrade

Just a thought, TRY pricing one up at VW dealers, worth a laugh

OFF TOPIC:

Was looking for some information, on a 'fluffer whistle' for a vectra we had in, same problem, after new parts fitted.

Turns out our customer and the customer of a garage somewhere had both download, off ebay, yes genuine 'fluffer whistles' in the genuine box etc
but they were ALL FACTORY REJECTS - FAULTY!

i got mine from, a tooling company that supplied ford dealers with there "Ford" tools, i think they were called churchill, but not sure,
anyway it is fantastic, and the same pivoting lever type,
and so that it does not get broken, if the joint simply will not detach, then we also break-out the OXY and a big hammer.

Hi,

Just to jump in here "V.L. Churchill" made Service tools for many OEM's and, I believe but not sure, that they still do.

The last address I could find for them was:

V.L.Churchill Limited, P.O.Box 3, Daventry, Northamptonshire, England NN11 4NF

Also believe, as said earlier, that many tools are produced in the same factories and then branded with different company's logos.

Laser tools do a heavy duty ball joint splitter similar to the SP one.

Laser Tools | 2708 | Ball Joint Separator - Scissors Type (http://www.lasertools.co.uk/item.aspx?cat=492&item=1438)

Some good one here including the Laser one:

Tool Academy (http://www.thetoolacademy.com/list_products.asp?listType=search&manufacturerId=0&price=0&categoryId=0&keyword=ball+joint&searchtype=0)
