View Full Version : TROUBLE SHARING BETWEEN 2 WINDOWS 7 MACHINES

I have my two windows 7 machines sharing files between each other in homegroup. is there anyway of removing the security because im having problems transfering files. i get a message saying i dont have permission to access the files/drives. ive transfered files before but dont know what i did. please help..

i had a similar problem between 7 and vista the only way i could get round it was to use the public folders on both machines.

yeh, guess i'll have to do that then. got 1 folder shared but cant remember what i did - lol, cheers for your post m8...

If it asks for security for the user accounts, log in as you would on the machine your trying to access. Also a good start would be the security settings for the folders your trying to access

ive set up the folders to share with all permissions as far as i can tell. kinda stuck on the process...

Have you got a the same username with the same password on both machines?, sometimes makes things easier ;)

Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center>Advanced sharing settings

Turn on Public folders. Turn off Password protected sharing and use 128 bit encryption.

That should allow read/write in homegroup.

what Bobiskey said will fix most windows7 sharing issues like user permissions, denied access to shared folders and/or access from other windows versions like Xp. or any other nt based OS.
